our Story

Welcome to our/your farm. My name is Rob Horton, the farm manager, and my wife’s name is Rocki Horton, THE BOSS!

We always had a desire to settle down and raise kids in a country atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of big city life. We finally settled down on a 10-acre property in 2007 and lived on it for the first year in a travel trailer with our 3 kids, Selena, Robert and Savana. Before we could get our house built, Rocki had already mapped out and installed her dream garden with the dimensions being 60 feet wide by 60 feet long with an 8-foot by 20-foot greenhouse next to it. With my background in construction project managing and Rocki’s in accounting management, the idea of having 10 acres of undeveloped land was like starting a new project with a clean slate. We admired our piece of ‘Mother Nature’ and loved the idea of working with her to develop something truly wonderful.

After a few years, we realized that most of our land was not serving much of a purpose, so we decided we would create something that would benefit our community and thus Bee Organic Farm & Apiary was founded in 2016. We knew we had lots to learn so we both took classes on soil fertility, regenerating good soil health, sustainable small farms, beekeeper certifications, produce safety training, and certified organic vegetable and livestock operations that were, and still are, certified by Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA). During this time, we discovered that deer, rabbits and coyotes love our gardens, so we added solar powered electric fencing and SASHA, our trained German shepherd. Problem solved!!! Then, 3 years of construction of infrastructure needed. In 2019, we sold our first product, delicious, sweet STRAWBERRIES!!! They were soon followed by beets, tomatoes, carrots, peppers, green onions/scallions and chicken eggs. Starting in 2020, we plan to grow and provide farm fresh organic fruits, vegetables, chicken eggs, raw honey and cut flowers, with online sales on our website, at local farmers markets, and from our own farm stand setup in multiple locations around our community and beyond.
